Assassination attempt on Georgian citizen Timur Makhauri in Kyiv

When analyzing incidents involving attacks on cars, we try to be as impartial as possible. We never give an assessment of what happened and, even more so, do not discuss the identity of the person who became the object of the threat. Instead, we meticulously study the details of the incident: both how the terrorists act and how the car behaves. We simply have to do this, because when creating our cars, we must be sure that the people who have entrusted us with their lives will be maximally protected.

Today we will analyze the report of an assassination attempt on Georgian citizen Timur Makhauri. The media call him a member of the Chechen volunteer battalion named after Dzhokhar Dudayev, who fought in Ukraine. The explosion occurred on September 8 during rush hour on one of the busy streets of Kyiv. The footage from the scene that leaked online shows that the Toyota Camry was moving in a dense stream of cars. In addition to Timur Makhauri, who died as a result of the explosion, there were also a woman and a child in the car. The woman received serious injuries, the ten-year-old girl was practically unharmed.

Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Zorian Shkiryak reported that the power of the explosion was presumably from 600 grams to 1 kg in TNT equivalent. According to preliminary information, a powerful explosive device planted in the car went off.

Having analyzed the circumstances of this incident, we can assume that our car could withstand such an explosion. During certification tests, confirmation was received that the car is capable of withstanding even a collision with an anti-tank mine, the mass of TNT in which is much higher. This fact was confirmed by the certificate received as a result of testing at the testing ground of the authoritative iABG testing center, where our car demonstrated the highest level of protection for civilian cars – VPAM VR10.
